Other Graduation Pathways

If you need to work or go to community college/trade school as soon as possible:

Alternative High School
-On high school campus, but separate with different schedule
-shorter day, no sports or clubs
-Work at your own pace on work packets
-Receive an LAUSD High School Diploma


California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE)
-test covers three subjects: reading, writing and math
-fee to take the test.
-least 16 years old, or
-have been enrolled in the tenth grade for one academic year or longer,
- Test is offered in the fall and spring each school year


General Educational Development Test (GED)
-covers five subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies
-fee to take the test.
-receive a California High School Equivalency Certificate
-18 years of age or older
-Testing centers give the test many times during the year


West Valley Occupational Center
-over 150 low-cost, short-term courses in more than 40 different careers
-Adult Basic Education (ABE)
-High School Diploma & GED
- can take coursework while in High School
